Real {Columbia Sheraton} Weddings: Piyumi and Tom Reception

Today will be our final post on this beautiful wedding.  Feel free to view the pre-ceremony and ceremony posts if you missed those.

While guests enjoyed cocktail hour inside, the couple and their bridal party took formal photos outdoors.  The weather was gorgeous and Columbia Lake was a beautiful backdrop for their photos.

Once formal photos were done, it was time for a quick wardrobe change by the bride before entering the reception.

Real {Columbia Sheraton} Weddings: Piyumi and Tom Ceremony

It was finally time for Piyumi and Tom to become husband and wife.  Their family and friends were gathered on the outdoor patio for the ceremony.

The couple wanted to honor both their faiths.  They started with the Sri Lankan ceremony.

Real Weddings: Piyumi and Tom Pre-Ceremony

Piyumi and Tom were married at the Columbia Sheraton Labor Day weekend of last year.  I met with them and instantly knew how in love these two were.   I loved hearing how they met and when they knew each was “the one” but watching the proposal video was the best!  We were very excited to work with them on their traditional and Indian wedding.

After months of planning, their wedding day was finally here.  The bride started her day like a celebrity…hair and makeup.

Of course we can’t leave out the groom.

It was almost time to get married so everyone headed to the area near the patio for the outdoor ceremony.

Stayed tuned for the ceremony recap.

Auto Draft

Over the past year, we’ve had some of the best couples with amazing weddings.  However, we are very far behind in blogging these recent weddings.  Today we want to send out anniversary wishes to Piyumi & Tom who were married one year ago today.

They were one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever met.  Over the next couple days we will showcase photos from their ceremony, formals and reception.

Renting vs. Buying Items for Your Wedding

A lot of brides struggle with the decision of whether to rent or buy décor items for their wedding. If they buy, the question becomes what will they do with everything after the wedding? Will they give them away, will they sell them to other brides or will they just keep it for themselves. Keeping it presents another challenge depending on the number of items and the item itself. Do they even have room for it especially given all the other things they’ve collected during their wedding planning process (magazines, planners, books, catalogs, etc)?

The other side of this debate is why rent when you can buy items for the same price…or close to it. The biggest benefit of course is not having to figure out what to do with it later. The down side is finding time to return all of the rented items when all you can think about is going on your honeymoon.

Either way, check out Infuse Creativity. They offer items, such as vases, paper lanterns, votive and candle holders, chargers, parasols, etc. for both rental and purchase. They even offer curly willow branches which are perfect for a fall or winter wedding.
