Congratulations to Stephanie & Bobby

I’ve had the priviledge of working with a wonderful couple over the past year. They tied the knot Saturday afternoon at Village Baptist Church in Bowie in the presence of 100 of their family and friends. They hosted their reception at Old South Country Club. Guests were seated under a tent on the veranda which provided a nice view of the golf course. Their wedding color palette of sage green and burgundy was carried through every aspect of their wedding. Below are a few photos snapped by my assistant Tonya prior to guests arriving. I hope to post professional photos soon.

Congratulations Stephanie and Bobby! We wish you all the best and hope you have a great time in Mexico!

Congratulations to Joe & Kerry (Part I)

I had the pleasure of working with the sweetest couple as they planned their elegant and modern Maryland wedding.  Saturday Joe and Kerry exchanged vows during a candlelight ceremony at the Grace United Methodist Church in Aberdeen.

The groom is an avid golfer so the couple wanted to host their wedding reception at a golf course. They chose beautiful Bulle Rock in Havre De Grace, Maryland to celebrate with 125 of their family and friends. The greens of the golf course were the perfect backdrop for their fall color scheme of green, chocolate and champagne.

Instead of table numbers, Joe and Kerry decided to use their engagement photos and incorporated names of various golf courses across the country such as Pebble Beach, Torrey Pines, Oakmont and of course Bulle Rock just to name a few.

Chris of DJ Specialists kept the dance floor packed all night. Guests also enjoyed the photo booth provided by Party Booths. A fun time was had by all!

Below are a few photos that my assistant was able to snap before the reception. I hope to post professional pictures soon so stay tuned.

April & Josh - Part 2

I just received a few professional photos from April & Josh’s Baltimore wedding last Saturday so now I’ll give you more details. This wedding was quite a family affair and a labor of love. The Bride’s mother played an integral part in the planning process especially since the Bride & Groom lived out of state. The ceremony took place at the Bride’s family church. A friend of the Bride’s mother made all of the jewelry for the wedding party. The best man sang 2 songs during the ceremony and boy can he sing! The Bride’s father made the place cards for the ceremony. Lastly, about a month before the wedding, the Groom contacted me to see what he could do to surprise his bride. His gift to her was additional lighting in the tent, an extra camera man with their videographer and a fancier limo for their send off at the end of the reception. Wasn’t that sweet?? I lead the couple into the tent to see everything before their guests. It was then that I had the pleasure of telling the Bride what her wonderful new husband did as a thank you for her. She was very happily surprised but who wouldn’t be.

All I can say is Jen of J. Lowe Photos is AWESOME! She captures everything. See for yourself. I’ve posted a few photos below as a preview (click on the photos to enlarge them). As you’ll see from the pictures on Jen’s blog as well as the photo slideshow, a wonderful time was had by all. I wish this couple all the best as they join the ranks of married couples everywhere. Congratulations again April & Josh.

A great shot during the ceremony. Notice the quote above them. Kudos to Jen Lowe for getting this photo

The couple’s first dance was to John Legend’s “So High” and what a fitting song for these two

Affairs With Elegance did the menu cards and ceremony programs seen here. We used 2 of the monograms I designed for them. One was used at the ceremony for the programs and aisle runner while the other was used at the reception for the menu cards and gobo lighting

Last but not least, the sparkler send off at the end of the evening

Special thanks to Affairs With Elegance team members Ed, Tonya and Terry for all of their hard work. They also did a great job!

Congratulations to April & Josh!

April and Josh became husband and wife on Saturday. Their ceremony was held at the Bride’s family’s church in Baltimore City. The newlyweds hosted their reception for 150 guests at Grey Rock Mansion in Baltimore County. The couple’s color scheme of chocolate and pink were used in every aspect of their wedding. Below are a few design photos from the reception.

Engagement photos were placed in the foyer for all their guests to see as soon as they entered the mansion. They also served as their guest book. Guests signed the mat.

There were a few tables setup in the ballroom for cocktail hour. There was also pink uplighting around the room.

Dinner was served in the tent. We alternated floral centerpieces and candle holders on the guest tables.

We also used lighting to wash the ceiling of the tent a soft pink.

I hope to share professional pictures soon.

Michelle & Lawrence - Part 2

I received professional photos from Michelle & Lawrence’s Maryland wedding on 06-07-08. Big thanks to Vicki Kelliebrew of Photos by Vicki for sharing the following images.

The bride decided to take on this DIY project and I think she did a great job.

The fellas before the ceremony. Don’t they look handsome?

A member of the family played Trumpet Involuntary for the recessional.

Can’t you just feel the love?

The couple and their bridal party.

The ballroom at their reception venue.

And last but not least, is a picture of the Groom giving a toast to his new wife. The most touching part of his speech was when he said “I love EVERYTHING about this woman…even the way she sleeps.” You immediately heard a resounding “AAAWWWWW” from the crowd and I was probably the loudest one of all. Moments like those are why I love my job!

06-07-08 = Michelle & Lawrence

Everyone knows that last Saturday’s date was 06-07-08! Although it wasn’t as big of a wedding date as last year’s 07-07-07, a lot of Maryland couples were stil excited about the date. I doubt they were as excited about the 100 degree weather though.

Congratulations to Michelle and Lawrence! They were married at a small church in Laurel, MD and hosted their reception at Florian Hall in Bowie, MD. The couple has known each other for years. They even went to elementary school together. I guess you could say they were destined to be together.

Their color palette of red and black was inspired by their love for the Chicago Bulls. They are such big fans that they chose to enter the ballroom to the Bulls’ theme song. Instead of the traditional guestbook, they created a coffee table book filled with school pictures (remember they went to the same schools) and their engagement pictures. It was quite the conversation piece. They also displayed pictures from their parents’ weddings over 25 years ago. They truly made their wedding their own by personalizing various elements of their day.

I hope to share professional pictures later this month.
