We are a few weeks into the New Year (and new decade) and it’s obvious that we took a little break from our blog. Well we’re back and ready to connect with engaged couples. Hopefully you’ll find some great posts to help you as your plan your wedding.
Did he put a ring on it over the holidays? If so, you’ll probaby want to check out the “Newly Engaged?” series we started last month. The posts are designed to help couples with what to do right after getting engaged…choosing your wedding date, determining your wedding budget, wedding guest list, choosing your wedding party, etc.
This coming week all of our posts will be related to choosing a wedding planner. We hope the advice will help you with what to look for as well as red flags to beware of.
Stay tuned…

http://www.questionpro.com/akira/TakeSurvey?id=1152739
We won’t record anything about you other than what state or country you are from – we don’t even ask for your email address so no spam or anything like that.
You will likely see this link on lots of other blogs and sites – this survey is being shared all over the blog-o-sphere so please take the survey only once.
If you have additional comments on the subject, please feel free to email me with those and I will share them with the other wedding vendors who are participating! We can’t wait to hear what you have to say!

Thank you in advance!

Yesterday, I was informed that Affairs With Elegance was awarded a 2009 Bride’s Choice award from Wedding Wire. Below is an excerpt from their website regarding the selection process.
The Bride’s Choice Awards recognizes vendors from the WeddingWire Network that demonstrate excellent quality of service, responsiveness, professionalism, value of cost and flexibility. Unlike other awards in which winners are selected by the company, the Bride’s Choice Awards are determined exclusively by recent newlyweds (brides and grooms) through surveys and reviews. Our winning vendors have set the bar high for this competition, demonstrating excellent service and expertise in their industry.
I would like to thank all of our clients who provided such glowing reviews. I enjoyed working with all of you on such a wonderful occasion…your wedding.
I’d also like to congratulate the other vendors who were recognized. Keep up the great work!

In case you hadn’t noticed, our blog header has changed. The old header showed off some of my design work but I’m a people person. So I thought it only made sense to include photos of clients and their bridal party in the new header. I’ve also added our signature “pink” and the Affairs With Elegance logo.
What do you think? Leave a comment letting me know your thoughts.

I found this lovely item on Delovely Designs’ blog. What a great idea! Although originally posted as a Halloween decoration idea, how beautiful would the church doors look if graced with one of these in your wedding color palette. Click here to view the how-to-instructions on The Long Thread’s blog. You won’t believe how easy it is to create.

Wednesday night I attended The Knot’s Baltimore vendor party. The event was held at the Baltimore Museum of Industry and planned by Linnyette Richardson-Hall. The theme was “An Earth Friendly Evening” and we all know that the environment is a big thing these days. There were four stations throughout the room (5 if you count dessert) and each had its own feel and mood. The FIRE area was done in red, burnt orange and other warm colors with a red leather lounge area to match. The food at that station was spicy and the signature drink was a spiced apple martini. The WATER area was mostly done in shades of blue. This station served seafood and the signature drink was a mojito. The EARTH area was done in greens and browns. They served vegetarian options along with a pear martini as the signature drink. Lastly was the AIR area which was done in white and ivory with a white leather lounge area to match. There was plenty of sushi and champagne served at this station. Who could forget dessert…ice cream sandwiches made with delicious cookies?
It is always great to see vendors we know and/or have worked with as well as meet and network with new vendors. Linnyette out did herself and a fun time was had by all.
I have to warn you that the photos below were the best I could get. It was dark in the room and I’ve never professed to be a professional photographer. So some photos didn’t come out as well as I would have liked.

There was even a hybrid stretch limousine.
