The above photo is of my Christmas tree. I put it up early this year. The tradition my mother and I had as a kid was to put up our tree on Christmas Eve while listening to Christmas songs/carols and baking cookies. That tradition rolled over into my marriage but over the last couple of years I’ve debated changing the tradition. The reason? Lugging the tree from the basement (well actually The Mr. does that part), assembling it, adding several strings of lights and decorating it with all gold ornaments and bows is way too much work to only leave up for a week…two at the most. Last year I started a couple days earlier but this year I started a week earlier. My goal is to have my tree up the first weekend in December. That will be the new tradition. What is your Christmas tradition with your spouse?
From all of us here at Affairs With Elegance, we wish you a safe and Merry Christmas!

OMG – that (tree, cookies, singing)is EXACTLY what my mother, brother, and I would do! We did it late because we always had a live tree. Now we do it late because my husband’s family gets into town late and I want everyone to feel that it is their tree.
