Love At Its Finest!

I’m sure everyone knows by now that Senator Barack Obama is the new President-Elect who will go on to become our 44th President of the United States in January 2009. My post today will not be about him as President. Instead, today’s post will be geared toward him as a husband.

One of the main things I noticed during his campaign over the last 21 months was how he interacts with his wife Michelle. I think their love for each other is so evident. I see genuine love, mutual respect, affection, admiration and support when I look at the photos below. They express it openly and I think it’s great. That could be because my husband and I are the same way. Friends often comment that we still act like newlyweds after so many years together…and I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. Some thought Barack and Michelle’s displays were unconventional (remember the fist bump controversy) but I say do whatever works for you as a couple.

Just remember that love gets you to the aisle but it’s also what can sustain a marriage.

We All Know What Today Is!

This morning’s post is not wedding related. We will return to our regularly scheduled wedding topics tomorrow. Today is all about the election as I’m sure most bloggers’ posts will be.

I couldn’t wait to get out and cast my vote in this historical election. I arrived at the polls at 6:50am and was shocked by what I saw. There were cars everywhere. I had to park pretty far from the school and walk a few blocks to get in line. I’ve lived in my area for almost ten years and have NEVER seen a line this long for an election. I was ecstatic! Everyone was friendly, saying good morning, helping others but most of all they were excited to VOTE.

The long line moved quickly but it still took about 1 ½ hours for the total process. That might seem like a long time to some but it was actually quicker than I thought it would be. I received my “I Voted” sticker and I’m proud to wear it.

I encourage you all to get out and VOTE today! The polls in Maryland are open until 8pm while the polls in Virginia close at 7pm.

See how long the lines were? The school is the building you see off in the distance.

This is a view of the line once I got to the front of the school.

The sticker I’m proudly wearing on my blazer.

GET OUT AND VOTE!!!
