Ribbon Wreath

I found this lovely item on Delovely Designs’ blog. What a great idea! Although originally posted as a Halloween decoration idea, how beautiful would the church doors look if graced with one of these in your wedding color palette. The Baltimore Knot Party – continued

Last week I blogged about the The Knot party held in downtown Baltimore. My pictures didn’t really do the place justice so now I’m posting the professional pictures taken by the event photographer Roman Grinev. Click here to see the slideshow he created.

Also, check out Linnyette’s blog for more information on all of the vendors that helped her put together a great event.

Inspiration Board – Chocolate & Hot Pink

Chocolate and pink has been a popular color scheme for awhile. Now that we’re in October using pale or soft pinks just doesn’t seem rich enough for the fall season. My solution for those who are dead set on this color combination? Pair chocolate with a deep hot pink. It’s more dramatic.

Tagged Again

I was tagged by Simply Beautiful Concepts. This is my 3rd or 4th time being tagged but this one is different than the others.

Four things I did today:
1. Emailed a prospective client as a follow-up to our phone conversation
2. Spoke to my Oct. 18th bride regarding her floor plan
3. Watched the finale of “I Want To Work For Diddy”
4. Read a card the Mr. left for me this morning (he’s still celebrating 2 days after our anniversary)

Four things on my to-do list:
1. Update my Oct. 18th couple’s timeline
2. Scan the photo booth photo my assistant and I took at my Sept. 20th wedding
3. Go shopping for my trip this weekend
4. Type up the processional and recessional order for a wedding rehearsal

Four of my guiltiest pleasures:
1. Cake
2. Sweet Tea
3. Shopping
4. Reality TV

Four random facts about me:
1. I like to fall asleep with the tv on
2. I can’t have children but I have 2 wonderful step-children
3. I’ve always wanted a twin sister
4. I love having GIRLS weekend with my friends in NC

Now I have to tag four other people…
1. Isis of POSH Events
2. Meredith of Elegant Engagements
3. Kim of Event Essentials
4. Isha of Isha Foss Events

Happy Anniversary!

Yesterday was my anniversary. The Mr. and I are celebrating a milestone anniversary although most of our friends would laugh at us since they’ve been married longer. We celebrated by exchanging gifts and having dinner at McCormick & Schmidt in Baltimore. While at dinner, the Mr. noticed an outdoor wedding about to take place right on Pier 5. Imagine that, a wedding planner celebrating her wedding anniversary seated at a table where she has a clear view of an outdoor wedding. I wish that couple, who now shares our anniversary date, all the best as they start their lives together.

Our candlelight themed wedding was beautiful and elegant (if I do say so myself) and filled with love. Our reception was the celebration we wanted. Our DJ kept the dance floor packed and a fun time was had by all. Click here to see the post from our anniversary last year.

Below are a few of our wedding pictures. All photos from Lee’s Photography.

The Knot Party – Baltimore Style

Wednesday night I attended The Knot’s Baltimore vendor party. The event was held at the Baltimore Museum of Industry and planned by Linnyette Richardson-Hall. The theme was “An Earth Friendly Evening” and we all know that the environment is a big thing these days. There were four stations throughout the room (5 if you count dessert) and each had its own feel and mood. The FIRE area was done in red, burnt orange and other warm colors with a red leather lounge area to match. The food at that station was spicy and the signature drink was a spiced apple martini. The WATER area was mostly done in shades of blue. This station served seafood and the signature drink was a mojito. The EARTH area was done in greens and browns. They served vegetarian options along with a pear martini as the signature drink. Lastly was the AIR area which was done in white and ivory with a white leather lounge area to match. There was plenty of sushi and champagne served at this station. Who could forget dessert…ice cream sandwiches made with delicious cookies?

It is always great to see vendors we know and/or have worked with as well as meet and network with new vendors. Linnyette out did herself and a fun time was had by all.

I have to warn you that the photos below were the best I could get. It was dark in the room and I’ve never professed to be a professional photographer. So some photos didn’t come out as well as I would have liked.

How Many Weddings Have You Done?

I watched a re-run of Whose Wedding Is It Anyway last night and one of the planners said she’s done over 8,000 weddings. Huh??? That number seemed ridiculously high. The Accountant in me had to try doing the math and the results were startling. Basically, she was exaggerating…to say the least. I thought I should post about this because couples need to know the character of the planners they meet with. If a planner tells you something like this then I would wonder what else they are exaggerating about.

Here’s the math to prove my point:

Scenario #1
52 weeks in a year
3 days in a weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)
2 weddings on each of those days
= 25.64 years

Or

Scenario #2
52 weeks in a year
7 days a week
2 weddings each of those days
= 11 years

In the first scenario, she’d have to do 2 weddings each of the 3 days in a weekend every single weekend for almost 26 years straight to do 8,000 weddings. If she’s around 40 years old (like the planner on last night’s episode appeared to be) she would’ve had to start at age 14. In the second scenario she’d have to do 2 weddings EVERY SINGLE DAY for 11 years straight.

Do you see the point I’m making? Please do your homework when selecting your wedding vendors.
