Inspiration Board – White & Ivory

Most people think that white and ivory don’t go together and that it should be one or the other. Well, take a look at the inspiration board below and tell me if you still think that’s true.

I’m Back!

I’m back from Dallas! This trip started out as a gift to my husband but I enjoyed myself just as much as he did. Our flight there started out a little bumpy…okay VERY bumpy due to the weather on the East coast. It later subsided but I thought I was on a ride at an amusement park for a minute. We stayed at the Hyatt Regency and our room was really nice. There were a lot of Cowboys fans in our hotel who came in just for the game. We meet people from Pennsylvania, Atlanta, New York and Oklahoma. The weather in Dallas was perfect on Saturday and Sunday…in the low 80’s.

Sunday was the game! The Mr. and I put on our jerseys and headed out. He wore throw back jersey #33 for Tony Dorsett and I wore #24 for Marion Barber. Once at Texas Stadium we were snapping pictures left and right. I felt like a tourist and wasn’t ashamed of it…not to mention we weren’t the only ones doing it. After walking around the stadium as fans tailgated, we finally took our seats and patiently awaited the start of the game. Some of the players came out to warm up so I was able to get a photo of Terrell Owens before he suited up. When it was time for the team to take the field, the crowd went wild as the players were introduced…it could’ve been the pyrotechnic show too though (see photos below). Country singer Randy Travis sang the National Anthem. It was a close game and at times a nail bitter but we won 13 – 9 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Later that night we went to The Capital Grille in downtown Dallas to celebrate.

Of course we stopped in the Official Dallas Cowboys Store while at the DFW airport to get gifts and souvenirs. I also purchased a DWeddings magazine from a local store just to get a peek into the world of weddings in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. It was hard to return home after such an exciting trip. Below are some of our pictures. {note to clients: this is the most casually dressed you’ll ever see me}

Out Of The Office

Today the Mr. and I are off to Dallas, Texas for a little fun. My gift to him for our anniversary earlier this month was a trip to a Dallas Cowboys football game. We are both huge Cowboys fans and have talked about making this trip for a few years. I wanted to do it this year because this is their last year playing in Texas Stadium. Imagine his surprise when he pulled out the tickets…which are on the 45 yard line by the way.

So on Sunday we’ll be in the stadium…with our jerseys on…routing for our team. We are both really excited and hope they actually win against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

I’ll be sure to post pix of our trip when we return next week.

Inspiration Board – Purple/Plum

I love the inspiration board below. Although I don’t particularly care for the color purple (love the movie though), for some reason these design elements work for me. What do you think?

Congratulations to Stephanie & Bobby

I’ve had the priviledge of working with a wonderful couple over the past year. They tied the knot Saturday afternoon at Village Baptist Church in Bowie in the presence of 100 of their family and friends. They hosted their reception at Old South Country Club. Guests were seated under a tent on the veranda which provided a nice view of the golf course. Their wedding color palette of sage green and burgundy was carried through every aspect of their wedding. Below are a few photos snapped by my assistant Tonya prior to guests arriving. I hope to post professional photos soon.

Real Bride’s Perspective – Stephanie

As brides plan for their big day, I thought it would be nice to share experiences from other brides. So I asked some of my previous brides (now wives) to give me their perspective of their wedding day. Below are the responses from Stephanie who married Walter on May 25, 2008. Click here and here to see the original blog posts from their wedding.

Best part of the wedding day:
The best part of the wedding was walking out of the church into the crowd of our friends and the bubbles. The bubbles were absolutely amazing. It was nice that we got to chat with friends and family at the time.

Fondest memory of the wedding day:
The Duck bus tour going by and cheering, seeing my grandmother so happy, my mom giving me the garter my Aunt Marmee made for me, meeting some of Walter’s family and seeing my mom and two aunts dance the WHOLE night.
(The Duck tour runs through historic parts of Baltimore and passed them as they took pictures at various monuments. The buses seem to come by every 10 minutes.)

Unexpected things we loved:
The Duck bus riding by, all of the people for the garter and bouquet toss and the charger plates.
(I surprised the couple with gold charger plates for their sweetheart table)

Aspects that were unnecessary:
The “Banquet Manager” was completely unnecessary. He talked to us once the whole night…when he greeted us. On the other hand, the bridal hostess was AMAZING.

If we could change anything:
Send the DJ a copy of the exact song we wanted played for our entrance. He messed up our entrance song by playing the wrong Kill Bill song. Plus he played country music and trendy rap music which we did not want. Otherwise, he got people on the dance floor and we had a blast, so I won’t complain.

Having a stronger bustle. Encourage your brides to have more than one loop for a bustle, because wedding dresses are HEAVY and will probably demolish one bustle hoop. I didn’t really mind, since it gave me a break to absorb things but I did have to miss Thriller.
(The bride’s wedding gown had a lot of beading which caused the loop on her bustle to break. I was able to secure it with safety pins from my emergency kit)

Anything we wish we had spent more time or money on:
Confirming with the florist and cake designer about the design. We wanted the large centerpieces to be in trays and the cake to have the same scroll design as the linen pattern. I sent a picture to cake baker of the linen design and called a couple of months ago but I had not confirmed the design closer to the event.

Anything we wish we had spent less time or money on:
The extra guest book. We order 2 Polaroid guest books. I would advise brides to by 1 Polaroid guest book per ½ their guest list. And we bought WAY too much Polaroid film. Everything else, was worth the time spent

Unexpected surprises or issues:
-The DJ playing the wrong Kill Bill Theme song and playing country/trendy rap music even with our specific instructions and the bustle breaking, multiple times…and during THRILLER!

Number 1 tip for future brides:
Don’t sweat the small stuff; this day happens once in your life. Try and spend it all being happy. Don’t let little miniscule things stress you out. You can deal with them later! Take 1-2 days off after your wedding to relax AND THEN go on your honeymoon. You can use the time to catch up with family and friends, gush about the wedding and see wedding pictures…sooo much fun!

How did we feel after the wedding:
ECSTATIC, so excited about the pictures, like a million bucks! I wanted to wear the dress more so we went to Power Plant (after the wedding) and got some great reactions :-)

Thanks Stephanie for participating. Readers click here to see our other brides’ perspective posts.
