It’s Finally Here…Today Is The Day!!

The Sex and the City movie opens today! I’ve been waiting what seems like forever for this movie. I thought it would never happen when I heard Kim Cattrall was holding out for more money a few years ago. But now the day has come! So now we get to see where they all are now, new fashion trends, etc. Of course I can’t wait to see the wedding scenes.

I have seen every episode of the show and was very disappointed when it stopped airing Sunday nights on HBO. None of my girlfriends were SATC fans like I am so they don’t really get my excitement. No worries…I have no problem going to see the movie by myself.

Enjoy!!

Congratulations Stephanie & Walter

Like many other Baltimore wedding planners, we had a wedding Memorial Day weekend. Sunday, Stephanie and Walter exchanged vows at Mt. Vernon Place United Methodist Church, which is a historic church built in 1872. They decided to see each other prior to the ceremony and what a great moment! Their wedding party was fun and full of energy when taking pictures at the various monuments in the area. After the ceremony, the new Mr. & Mrs. ventured to Federal Hill to take a few more wedding pictures…alone. The weather was gorgeous so I know they will have great wedding photos.

The high school sweethearts hosted their wedding reception at The World Trade Center near the Inner Harbor. The couple chose the Constellation Room on the 21st floor and the view of downtown Baltimore was amazing! The ballroom was done in ivory, gold and champagne which was the perfect compliment to the beautiful view of sunshine, the sunset and the night time skyline. Unfortunately, my pictures don’t do it justice.

Another Great Wedding Favor…

Or should I say a great Wedding Tea favor. I found these on Crate & Barrel’s website and had to share. These would be great favors for a wedding or bridal shower. You’ll get 5 tea sachets in a decorative tin for $3.95 each.

Sometimes You Get What You Pay For…

I regularly receive inquiries from brides-to-be who are looking for a wedding planner and want pricing information on our wedding packages. Some want to schedule a meeting. However, some I never hear from again (even after following up with them) and some quickly let me know the price isn’t in their budget. They were only looking to spend $300-$500. What??

I need someone to explain to me how you can pay $3000-$5000 to rent a venue (not inclusive of a caterer), $2500-$4500 for a photojournalist photographer (and the list goes on and on) but only want to spend $300 on a wedding planner. Some couples don’t realize that a professional planner will make sure that all vendors arrived timely and that everything is setup correctly at that venue. You won’t have to worry about the details or issues that may arise because your planner is on top of it. This means you have peace of mind and your photojournalist photographer will be able to take pictures of you smiling and having the time of your life.

Wedding Planner prices usually are indicative of their professional experience, number of years in the business or the services included in their packages. Last year I did a post explaining this in more detail. You can also read this post from The Wedding Diva.

I’ve said all this to say, some couples will be happy with their inexpensive (and usually inexperienced) planner and everything will work out well while others find out later (sometimes when it’s too late) that you get what you pay for. Check out this post from Blue Orchid Designs about a bride-to-be who isn’t completely satisfied with her inexpensive planner.

I discourage shopping by price alone. There are so many other factors to consider so choose wisely!

Do you want to be Spanx’d on your wedding day?

I found this while visiting Elizabeth Bailey Weddings’ blog. Spanx, famous for camouflaging body imperfections, is now offering this item for today’s brides. Their Marry Me spanx will look seamless under your wedding dress and sells for $18. You can’t be that price for the security you’ll have knowing everything is in it’s place and well supported.

BTW, I’m sure the bridesmaids and mothers might prefer a pair too.

We all know what today is…

I just wanted to wish a Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers out there. Unfortunately, my mother lives in another state so I won’t see her today. She and I use to have an annual tradition of going to brunch every Mother’s Day. I’d try to pick a different venue each year so that there was still an element of surprise. Our last one was in 2004 because she moved back to her home town of Jackson, MS. So instead of brunch she received a care package from her loving daughter.

When I got married, I became a step-mom. My husband always does something for me but it’s always an interesting weekend since his birthday usually falls so close to Mother’s Day. Like this year, his birthday is the day before. So I spent Saturday honoring him and he’ll return the favor today. Next year will really be interesting since his birthday will actually fall ON Mother’s Day.
