My mother is quite the world traveler. She’s been all over the United States and the Caribbean as well as England and France. She just left for Spain and Italy this past Friday morning.
If this describes you and your fiancé, why not incorporate a travel theme into your wedding or rehearsal dinner. The latest issue of Elegant Bride offers chic travel inspired items from Blue Bambu, Kenzie Kate and Westport Style. For all of you DIY brides, most scrapbook stores carry world map paper which can easily be used for your ceremony programs, table numbers or place cards.

Too bad I don’t remember what it was. How many times has this happened to you? It use to happen to me all the time. Then I remembered an episode of Seinfeld where Jerry mentioned that he keeps a note pad by his bed to write down jokes in the middle of the night. If it works for comedians then why not brides and wedding planners too?
Keep a journal with you during the day or by your bed so that you can write down ideas and questions for your planner, your client or vendors as you think of them. There are a plethora out there to choose from. Pick one in your wedding or company colors.

We’ve all been to bridal showers where they split the guests into teams to see which one can design the best looking wedding dress using toilet paper. Although I’ve played this game several times I must say that none of us ever designed anything that looked as beautiful as these.

Although Usher and Tameka originally wed in his lawyer’s office, the two tied the knot again on September 1st. I guess they wanted to make sure it was official
They hired the fabulous Diann Valentine to oversee their celebration and as always, it looks like she did a great job on the design. Below are pictures of their nuptials from Essence’s and People magazine’s websites. Enjoy!

A lot of brides struggle with the decision of whether to rent or buy décor items for their wedding. If they buy, the question becomes what will they do with everything after the wedding? Will they give them away, will they sell them to other brides or will they just keep it for themselves. Keeping it presents another challenge depending on the number of items and the item itself. Do they even have room for it especially given all the other things they’ve collected during their wedding planning process (magazines, planners, books, catalogs, etc)?
The other side of this debate is why rent when you can buy items for the same price…or close to it. The biggest benefit of course is not having to figure out what to do with it later. The down side is finding time to return all of the rented items when all you can think about is going on your honeymoon.
Either way, check out Infuse Creativity. They offer items, such as vases, paper lanterns, votive and candle holders, chargers, parasols, etc. for both rental and purchase. They even offer curly willow branches which are perfect for a fall or winter wedding.

The Fall/Winter issue of Grace Ormonde magazine is full of pictures from high end weddings or events. This issue contains 27 pages of table top designs and features 6 real weddings one of which appeared on the Style Network’s “My Big Fat Fabulous Wedding”. Nothing says “high end” like a Preston Bailey design which is also featured. Even the vendor advertisements have beautiful table settings. From dupioni silk linens to lush floral arrangements to hanging crystals to beautiful and unique cakes, there’s something for everyone.
Although most people may not be able to afford most of these wedding designs, it doesn’t mean you can’t use them for inspiration. Get inspired by the color schemes, centerpieces, place settings, lounge areas or lighting (candles, color washes, uplights, pinspots, etc). Using just one or two elements may add a high end elegant feel to your wedding design.
Happy designing!
