Well actually it’s brunch but I loved the title which was a take on “Breakfast at Tiffany’s”. The Bloomingdales in White Flint, MD is hosting The (Very) Social Registry Brunch on Sunday, September 9, 2007. They will have associates on hand to assist couples with creating the perfect gift registry. Call 301.994.4640 to attend or for more information. Originally, this couple wanted to do a destination wedding in St. Lucia but later decided to do their Maryland wedding locally to accommodate their families. They chose Herrington on the Bay because of its tropical feel and bayside views. They were married Sunday evening in front of 165 of their close family and friends.
The bride chose shades of orange for their color scheme. The Best Man and ushers wore tan suits with orange satin ties while the Maid of Honor wore a deep orange colored dress. The bride wore a cream sheath style wedding dress and the groom wore a tan suit with a cream satin tie. They even chose orange and tan sand for the sand pouring portion of the ceremony. This is the second couple I’ve had do sand pouring instead of a unity candle. Although the weather reports called for thunderstorms on Sunday, the rain held out all day so that the couple could have their outdoor ceremony and reception overlooking the water. The humidity and heat, on the other hand, was a different story. Let’s just say I probably lost about 10 pounds…which isn’t a bad thing these days.
Everyone had a great time and most of the guests said they felt like they were on an island. So I guess couple’s mission was accomplished…besides actually getting married of course. I had the pleasure of coordinating a Bachelorette party Saturday evening. Originally, this party was suppose to take place outside around the pool but the 102-105 degree weather, a heat advisory and later a severe thunderstorm watch moved the party indoors. My client Dawn and I created more of a lounge atmosphere in her basement utilizing décor elements she already had. We used her covered pool table for our food display, the bar area for drinks and eating and her leather furniture for lounging and socializing. No Bachelorette party would be complete without the traditional decorations. There were several feather boas around the room, a “Bachelorette Party” sign and a banner for the guest of honor, Tawsha, to wear all night.
Fun was had by all. I’ve included pictures of the décor however I have not included any of the guests. I’m treating the party like Vegas…what happens there stays there Are you one of many brides that can’t wait for the next issue of Marth Stewart Weddings? Well now you can get your MSW fix daily. I just received my catalog from Ballard Designs yesterday and they have several items that can be personalized with your monogram. These items are perfect for weddings too. If you are looking for gifts for your bridesmaids, then check out their carry-all bags or their tote bags. They also carry party supplies such as coasters and napkins. If you are looking for unique initials to adorn a door then you’ll love their pearl letters or spruce alphabet wreath (perfect for the couple that is planning a winter wedding). Sunday night’s episode of Design Star on HGTV was all about designing a wedding reception. The remaining designers pitched ideas which had to include elements of Rock-n-Roll, Las Vegas, elegance and tradition while keeping to the couple’s red, black, silver, white and lavendar color scheme.
I know…that is an original color scheme but in the end the couple loved everything. See the pictures below (from HGTV’s website) and let me know what you think. Personally, I would have gone for an elegant and traditional look for the reception but saved the Rock-n-Roll and Las Vegas elements for a lounge/party area after dinner.
